About Nicola Wealth Private Capital:


Nicola Wealth Private Capital manages approximately $2.8 billion in alternative investment funds across Private Equity, Infrastructure Equity, Venture Capital, Private Debt, and Mortgages (the "Funds").


Our Private Capital team has the flexibility and expertise to invest the Funds in direct investments, co-investments or fund investments to provide our investors with truly diversified exposure beyond the public markets.


Position Summary:


We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide middle office portfolio monitoring support across our private equity & venture capital, and infrastructure strategies.


Reporting to both strategy leads, the Portfolio Monitoring Analyst will play a key role in conducting quarterly reviews and the ongoing monitoring of investment performance for the Nicola Private Equity LP, Nicola Infrastructure and Renewable Resources LP, and Nicola Venture Capital LP, in addition to the Nicola Diversified Private Assets Fund.

The location of this role will be a hybrid work schedule based in our Vancouver or Toronto office.


The Portfolio Analyst, Private Capital's main responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing monitoring and tracking of the performance of existing investments
  • Analyzing monthly/quarterly financial statements and company level reporting of existing investments
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly reports to summarize investment performance trends
  • Onboarding new investments and updating existing investments in portfolio management software
  • Acting as a liaison between Fund Operations and the Private Capital investment team, also working closely with external partners
  • Maintain Nicola fundlevel cash flow models, tracking and forecasting of capital inflows and outflows
  • Conducting research on industry trends and developments that may impact existing investments
  • Preparing presentations to internal stakeholders
  • Helping identify/manage operational risks and improve processes
  • Assisting with other adhoc projects
  • Actively engaging in ongoing learning and development to continuously improve skills and knowledge

The Portfolio Monitoring Analyst's skills and qualifications should include:

  • 1-3 years of front or middle-office experience in investing, portfolio monitoring or risk management at a financial institution
  • Basic understanding of performance measurement
  • Bachelor's degree in business/accounting/finance
  • Proven investment monitoring or risk assessment skills
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Experience in a private capital investing firm is considered an asset
  • Experience monitoring an investment portfolio is considered an asset
  • Experience with eFront investment software is considered an asset
  • CFA, CPA, MBA, or CBV (either completed or in progress) is considered an asset
  • You are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer
