Reporting to the Manager, Student Communications & Campus Community, the Student Communications Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of University communications to students from the Student Affairs portfolio.
The Student Communications Coordinator contributes to students' success and a positive experience by ensuring they receive clear, relevant, timely and accessible information that enables them to meet their responsibilities and make informed decisions as students, and through sharing engaging stories about student life, community and activities.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Execute and maintain the student communications editorial calendar by coordinating all routine student communications from the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid & Awards, International Student Services, Campus Life and other Student Affairs portfolios as required
- Coordinate and participate in regular editorial meetings and strategic communications planning sessions with Student Affairs stakeholders
- Maintain Student Affairs content on the University websites, including academic policies, procedures, dates and deadlines, program guides and course calendars
- Coordinate studentfacing social media channels (sharing content, responding to questions, monitoring activity, and reporting concerns)
- Maintain general knowledge and understanding of relevant university policies, procedures and practices, data security and confidentiality requirements
- Maintain student communications documents and records
- Maintain archived course calendars and policy archives
- Support the Manager, Student Communications & Campus Community in other related tasks that contribute to the successful operation of the unit
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary degree or equivalent, with three (3) years of related work experience in postsecondary education an asset
- Experience writing for web for postsecondary student audiences
- Digital content creation skills, including photo and video production
- Excellent oral and superior written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience practicing accessible information and communication standards
- Demonstrated professionalism, judgment and discretion
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure of high volume and changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work both independently and participate collaboratively in a team environment
- Familiarity with student information systems, learning management systems and enterprise service systems are assets
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity and equity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty
Compensation:
Hiring Range - $50,163.56 to $57,378.18 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus benefits; Salary Range - $50,163.56 to $65,081.34 per annum.

Hours of Work:
Total of 35 hours per week. The incumbent in this role will be expected to report to work on campus.
