Job Summary

  • The Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development develops and delivers innovative and diverse educational programs for more than 3000 students annually to help them navigate the changing world of learning and work. Reporting to the Director, Transition Year Program, the Program Coordinator, Transition Year Program is a key resource in coordinating administrative functions to the Transition Year Program department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors student progress throughout the academic year in terms of grades and attendance and notifies the Director and Associate Director of performance issues, particularly when grades fall below a 2.0 GPA.
  • Assists the Director and Associate Director with operational, award, and endowment budgets. Verifies and processes all accounts payable for authorization and reconciliation of general ledgers.
  • Liaises with student accounts in the Registrar's Office to ensure student accounts accurately reflect student bursary allocations.
  • Prepares paperwork for placing student tutors on payroll and monitors the progress of students being tutored and consults with the Director and Associate Director if problems occur.

Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.


Required Qualifications

  • Office/Business Administration Diploma with approximately three to five years' related experience with progressive administration responsibilities (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Strong communication skills and practical problemsolving skills.
  • Organizational skills with a proven track record with working with mínimal supervision and working collaboratively with a variety of teams and colleagues.
  • Proven capability managing multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail and time management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Assets

  • Experience working in a university environment.
  • Experience with learning management systems (Brightspace) and information systems (Banner, Destiny One).
