Position Overview:


The Condition Monitoring Analyst (CMA), Mining - I works under the guidance of senior condition monitoring analysts to develop his/ her knowledge of mining equipment, data analytics, maintenance recommendations and problem management.

The role supports the customer by maximizing productivity and lowering cost per ton, using fact based maintenance recommendations.


The CMA takes a proactive approach to maintenance by utilizing the latest technologies and available equipment data to provide recommendations that allow our customers to optimize their fleets.

Our monitoring software allows multiple data sources (Fluid analyses, Machine Inspections, Repair History, Equipment Data, Site Conditions) to be analyzed and interpreted by a team of CMAs.


Remote equipment monitoring is an evolving technology across the Mining industry and our Condition Monitoring Team members are partnering with our customers in innovative ways to improve Finning's ability to improve mechanical availability and reduce equipment total cost of ownership.

This position is a great opportunity for experienced technicians with an aptitude for technology.


Job Description:


Major Job Functions:

  • Review and interpret condition management data to diagnose failure modes 30%
  • Communicate equipment condition to customers/Finning personnel to initiate preventive action 20%
  • Ensure that customer processes are in place to utilize condition monitoring recommendations 10%
  • Follow up on previous recommendation to ensure problem resolution and identify learning opportunities. 20%
  • Provide recommendation at fleet level to reduce customer cost and improve operator behavior 10%
  • Actively participate in projects to improve condition monitoring processes 10%

Specific Skills:

  • Ability to understand the mining equipment and the functionality of each component group.
  • Ability to read & understand the technical data sources available.
  • Strong Analytical Skills (problem solving).
  • Ability to filter and correlate the different data source to create an accurate recommendation.
  • Strategic thinking coupled with multiangle approach to complex situations.
  • Customer service focus with great ability to effectively communicate in English. (written/verbal)
  • Selfmotivated and detail oriented; work with a minimum of supervision.

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of engines, powertrain, hydraulics, electronic system and telematics will be considered an asset.
  • Condition Monitoring work flow tool & Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) knowledge will be consider an asset.
  • Understanding effective inspection process and equipment lifecycle planning
  • Knowledge of mining equipment (Large Off Highway Trucks, Shovels, Track Type Tractors, Motor Graders) and mine site processes considered an asset

Accountability:

  • To work in collaboration with the customers, reliability engineering, product managers, and branches to improve mechanical availability.
  • Manage the failure risk versus down time/ loss of productivity.
  • To create and manage recommendations that improve product support loyalty.
  • Manage customer fleet
  • Provide health fleet reports to convey value provided.
