Description

• Provide one-to-one or group support to students through the following tutoring modes: online, drop-in, appointment-based, or workshop.
• Provide general tutoring support to students in specific content areas.
• Assist students with learning success skills and strategies in the online or face-to-face environment.
• Assist in identification of study resources appropriate to support specific course content and share with students to improve their individual learning habits.
• Maintain a positive learning environment while assisting students in building their confidence, knowledge, and abilities in their studies.
• In consultation with Learning Services Instructors, seek any clarification needed from program instructors to meet course expectations.
• In consultation with the Learning Services and/or program instructor(s), be reflective of and responsive to accommodation of diverse learning needs, including equity groups and English language learners, through the use of appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Provide support to Learning Services instructors as directed which includes, but is not limited to, recording and maintaining quantitative records; and researching and collecting student friendly support and reference materials.
• Work cooperatively in an interdependent team environment.
• Participate in mentorship and training sessions.
• Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements.
• Follow regulations and policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic
• Must be available up to 9 hours a week, including evenings and weekends as determined, and be willing to provide flexibility with advanced notice to create a schedule that suits students' availability.

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in subject specific content areas and on-line tutoring.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience in the last 2 years as a tutor in an online learning environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to function as team member in an ever-changing environment.
• Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
