Job Summary


A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Department Manager and Undergraduate Chair, the Student Experience Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation, delivery and evaluation of a variety of experiential learning opportunities in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS).

The School's mission is to promote well-being from cell to society, through teaching, research, and active engagement in our communities.

This position advises prospective students who are members of underrepresented communities on matters including admissions, program details, university life, student resources and support, and financial assistance.

This position works with students in underrepresented communities to identify and locate resources to support academic needs.

This position works collaboratively with faculty and staff to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, events, and services that encourage focused student enrollment and improve student experience.

This position plans, develops, implements, and evaluates non-traditional learning activities including placements, community-based projects, 'mini-stream' offerings, exchanges, and other experiential learning opportunities.


Job Description:


What you will do

  • Advises prospective students who are members of underrepresented communities on matters including admissions, program details, university life, student resources and support, and financial assistance.
  • Works with students in underrepresented communities to identify and locate resources to support academic needs.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, events, and services that encourage focused student enrollment and improve student experience.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates nontraditional learning activities including placements, communitybased projects, 'ministream' offerings, exchanges, and other experiential learning opportunities.
  • Participates in secondary school recruitment activities, represents the university at special events, and delivers online recruitment programming.
  • Gathers information on student experience, prepares reports and recommendations, and identifies new and/or enhancements to programming.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or ongoing learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Required Experience

  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
  • Experience delivering career coaching considered an asset.
  • Experience working at a postsecondary education institution considered an asset.
  • Experience planning, coordinating and/or managing events or promotions considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning theory considered an asset.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Identify new problems and seek information and input to fully understand the cause of problems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes.
  • Draw logical conclusions and provides opinions and recommendations.
  • Research equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion resources and best practices relevant to the job and unit operations in order to inform evidencebased planning.
