    Lifeguard (Overnight Camp – Bancroft, ON)

    Fraser Lake Camp is run as part of the charitable work of Willowgrove, a land-based, not-for-profit organization known for our focus on outdoor experiences for people of all ages. Since 1968, Willowgrove has offered camping, outdoor education, and recreation programs year-round to our community and beyond.

    Job Description: The Fraser Lake Waterfront Counselling staff are directly responsible for an assigned group of campers with the assistance of a Co-Counsellor as well as leading waterfront programming during activity periods. Staff are responsible for the overall health and safety of each camper, as well as ensuring that each camper is enjoying and participating in the camp program. Staff are expected to set good examples for our campers through facilitating and participating in camp programming, being a positive influence, and caring for each camper's needs. At the Waterfront, staff are responsible for safeguarding campers and staff members while participating in swimming, canoeing, kayaking, jumping tower and tube slide. Waterfront staff are required to attend all pre-camp lifeguard training sessions as well as training sessions that occur during the camp season that are conducted by the Head Lifeguard(s). Waterfront staff are also part of our counselling team and will be assigned a cabin for the week.

    Employment Dates: Waterfront Counselling staff must work a minimum of 4 out of 7 camp weeks. Camp Weeks are

    Week 1: Jun 30 – Jul 6

    Week 2: July 7 – 13

    Week 3: July 14 – 20

    Week 4: July 21 – 27

    Week 5: July 30 – Aug 5

    Week 6: August 6 – 10

    Week 7: August 11 – 17

    Staff training is mandatory for all staff and will take place on June 22 – 29. All training dates are mandatory unless other arrangements have been made with the Camp Manager.

    Position Requirements:

  • Counselling staff must be age 17 by the end of the year
  • Ability to communicate and work as a member of a team
  • Holds current certifications in National Lifeguard and Standard First Aid + CPR-C
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors and Pleasure Craft License are not required but an asset.
  • Mental Health First aid are not required but strongly recommended
  • Clean vulnerable sector police record check
