The Career Services team provides support to all graduate level students to ensure they are fully supported in their career planning, professional development and job search activities.
As a Corporate Relations Specialist reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Relations in Career Services, you will be responsible for maintaining existing client relationships associated with campus recruitment partners through activities such as client communications, event scheduling, job postings, resume books, and interview scheduling.
This role will lead the execution of campus recruitment events during the campus recruitment cycle as well as lead panel discussions, industry events and site visits throughout the year to address the hiring needs of all graduate student and in particular the MBA and Specialized Masters programs.
Additionally, the Corporate Relations Specialist is responsible for creating and leading employer communication and reports associated with recruitment activities and marketing materials such as recruitment guides and annual Employment & Salary Reports.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping wellinformed on career development trends and bestpractices
- Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
- Analyzing and recommending actions to increase employers' visibility
- Implementing plans and process improvements for employer engagement activities
- Promoting programming, student needs and interests to employers and industry contacts
- Advising and coaching students on developing careerrelated goals
- Promoting employer jobs and engagement on campus with students
- Probing for information from employers to establish activities that best meet student learning needs
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree plus Post Graduate Certificate (i.e. CHRL designation) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years fulltime, relevant, progressively more senior experience within the portfolio's industry sector, preferably in human resources, recruitment or other related field.
- Knowledge of career services industry and university recruitment is required.
- Experience providing coaching/guidance is required.
- Demonstrated success with business development in a direct, client facing capacity.
- Proven ability to design and implement interactive learning programs.
- Experience in marketing, developing marketing strategies and promotional materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong emphasis on influencing others.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to lead large group presentations; ability to utilize new technology.
- Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously under mínimal supervision.
- Possesses a deep, as well as broad, understanding of assigned market sector and career development within sector; knowledge of industry career options, trends and opportunities.
- Must have a good understanding of business students and employment markets, and job search skills.
- Outstanding customer service focus essential; able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders.
- Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters; demonstrated decisionmaking skills in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
- Strong computer skills; strong working knowledge of MS Office.
- Travel within the GTA is required.
