Your Opportunity


Under general direction of the Assistant Director, the HR Consultant will support the operationaland strategic human resource needs of academic Departments, Centres, Institutes, Schools, Colleges andprograms within the Faculty of Arts & Science portfolio.

- legislation including the Ontario HumanRights Code and the Employment Standards Act; providing recruitment advice and assistance to clients; providingadvice and guidance on complex organizational change and restructuring; reviewing client concerns andobjectives, outlining options and approaches and partnering with clients to facilitate change processes; analyzing,evaluating and classifying positions; and contributing to attendance and disability management plans andprocesses as a member of a cross-functional team.


The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Director, to support new, creative strategicinitiatives and special projects and to guide junior staff.


This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines,including but not limited to the University of Toronto's Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.


Essential Qualifications
Education

  • University degree in a relevant discipline and course work in the Human Resources fi eld leading to thecompletion of the CHRL designation or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:


  • Minimum fi ve (5) years progressively responsible and related human resource experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategy, providing expertise and overall management to complexrestructuring activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with unionized and nonunionized job evaluation, compensation and recruitmentmethodology and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation.

  • Proactive and energetic customerservice orientation with an awareness of and sensitivity to diversity.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple and confl icting priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Superior verbal and written communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, demonstrated ability to identify, gather information and data,present options and partner with clients to eff ectively and creatively resolve complex human resourcematters.
  • Excellent judgement; strong initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Tact, empathy and confi dentiality in dealing with diffi cult or sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Faculty of Arts & Science, Human Resources Office.
