As a venture capital investment manager, you invest in startups in the technology sector.

You play a key role in the startup, management, development and growth of Quebec businesses operating in the technology sector and requiring capital.

You are responsible for the profitability of your investment portfolio and for providing support and maintaining business relationships with the companies in your portfolio.

You lead, influence and serve as expert advisor for companies in your portfolio to create value. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential.


Your very highly complex work and initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your line of work and comprehensive, in-depth understanding of the organization.

General Information on the Position


Main responsibilities- Conduct market research, monitor and identify investment opportunities: Identify opportunities and analyze financing and support needs of companies in the technology sector (information and communications technology, financial technology, life sciences and medical technology, clean and climate technology, etc.)- Conduct preliminary analysis and due diligence: Execute an in-depth business analysis of companies in collaboration with an internal specialized team or external experts, as needed- Assess the specific capital needs of businesses based on their stage of development, develop an adapted and innovative investment proposal, negotiate conditions in terms of profitability and risk level- Oversee portfolios, which means being the contact person between Desjardins Capital and partner businesses- Provide expert advice and identify areas of focus for portfolio companies to maximize the value of investments- Help identify and execute action plans stemming from companies' business plans.

Create the right conditions to achieve objectives based on the company's underlying challenges and business risks- Develop and implement the right conditions to achieve the target objectives in terms of portfolio returns, investment volume, business development and risk management- Play an active role in public relations activities and maintain a presence in the business community, especially in the technology sector and the startup ecosystem- Conduct ongoing monitoring of the economy and market trends for each sector to identify competitive opportunities for the companies.

Specific responsibilities- Seek out and identify new investment opportunities- Conduct a preliminary analysis of potential investments, which includes conducting in-depth research to assess a company's potential profitability- Evaluate whether a product, technology or service developed and offered by a given company is of sufficient interest and value to be marketed profitably- Prepare investment memos and reports and develop investment proposals and present them to governing bodies (investment committee)- Conduct due diligence- Negotiate investment terms and conditions with all stakeholders and carry out transactions- Provide ongoing support for the management and development of portfolio companies- May be asked to sit, as a member or observer, on the board of directors or advisory committee of portfolio companies to help them develop- Conduct divestment transactions, focusi
