Responsibilities:


  • Develop the structure and processes to manage the trade compliance, which include Import and export classification; Licensing determination; Governmental reporting & filings; Customs valuation and duty refund; GST Amendment's and refunds; Broker Management; Transaction Review; monthly K84/SOA
  • Advise management on a variety of international trade issues regarding compliance, customs, duties, border security, and free trade.
  • Stay current on applicable laws and regulations issued by various governmental departments and agencies.
  • Manage relationships with various governmental officials and authorities on export, import and trade security matters.
  • Develop and maintain audit procedures to assess, confirm and improve compliance with applicable global trade and security regulations. Investigate potential incidences of noncompliance and recommend appropriate action to senior management, including remedial activity. Ensure that audits are being performed consistently.
  • Ensure timely clearance of customs, with focus on US/Canada transactions.
  • Maintenance of Compliance Files.
  • Promptly informs manager of any suspected violations of trade regulations by company employees or service providers (import brokers, freight forwarders).
  • Receive and verify all inbound customs brokerage invoices.
  • Work with the GM to monitor relevant markets (customs rates and leasing/purchasing in particular) as to alternatives and trends.
  • Work with the GM to serve as primary or secondary contact with designated railroads.
  • To develop and implements strategic plans.
  • Assist with railcar leasing.
  • Work with the GM to negotiate and establishes contracts with the railroads and railcar lessors/suppliers.
  • Lead role in addressing claims filed with the railroads associated with movements of designated products.
  • Generates and provides information to others in support of budgeting processes, payment processes, financial reporting, etc.
  • Participate in training, as required.
  • Additional tasks as required and assigned by the General Manager.

Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Selfstarter who is positive, selfmotivated, organized, analytical with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Plastic industry experience would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of ERP financial integrations.
  • Professional or advanced skills in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • College diploma or University Degree.
