- Assists in the operation of all wastewater treatment plant functions.
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment, such as pumps, motors, valves, instruments, chlorination systems etc.
- Assists in the lubrication and cleaning of machinery and equipment; performs 'housekeeping' and general maintenance work through the JAMES plant.
- Assists in record keeping.
- Assists in a variety of wastewater and biosolids sampling operations.
- Operates related equipment including trucks, small tractors, lawn mowers, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: - Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Must be currently attending a secondary or post-secondary educational program full or part-time; or have attended full or part-time in the last academic year and plan to return in the next ensuing semester.
- Must be enrolled in a recognized Water and Wastewater Technology program.
- Must be in possession of a valid BC Driver's License.
- Must have the ability to follow all work safe B.C. regulations and have the ability to complete work in a safe manner.

Wastewater Treatment Co-op Student
Are you interested in applying your talents and knowledge and gaining valuable experience? The City of Abbotsford has a 3-4-month co-op opportunity starting May 2024, with an hourly wage of $19.21 – $24.47 dependent on year of study. The Wastewater Treatment co-op supports the operation and maintenance of the JAMES Pollution Control Centre and has the potential to take on additional responsibilities depending on your interests and skillset.
