Description
Reviews daily and weekly workflows, establishes priorities with sales and engineering, and deploys staff as required

  • Conducts daily meetings
  • Coordinates production work scheduling transportation and routes; and other related activities
  • Manages performance and other duties exercising a good understanding and compliance with the CBA and H&S regulations/standards
  • Coordinates, assigns and review the work of staff engaged in the following duties: shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products
  • Establishes work schedules and procedures and coordinates activities with other departments
  • Schedules vacations; approves leave of absence requests
  • Arranges training (first aid, health and safety, crosstraining)
  • Ensures health and safety inspections are completed;
  • Coordinates work modification programmes, as required
  • Processes purchasing transactions
  • Prepares parts requisitions; maintain inventory levels; provides release dates for delivery of materials; order hand tools
  • Investigates and proposes solutions for wide range of manufacturing challenges and difficulties
  • Researches potential suppliers required for improved operational effectiveness
  • Assists with coordination of work and staff in shipping, receiving, storing, distributing, and
- maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products.

  • Assists with daily workflow in accordance with the production schedule and production priorities.
  • Helps monitor the movement of carts, equipment, and loading to maintain proper process cycle times.
  • Assists with Shift Start Up & End of Shift Activities.
  • Assists with monitoring and reporting errors.
  • Opens, updates CAD drawings to clarify dimensions, correct errors, change materials, or make other changes
  • Revises or renests laser files for cutting
  • Alters the parameters of the laser machine to switch nests, make special cuts, or other changes.
  • Completes payroll/labour/Visual reporting as required including issuing and close production orders
  • Resolves any payroll or costing discrepancies identified by accounting or production costing staff
  • Produces accurate programs in nesting software for daily project related jobs.
  • Maximizes sheet steel utilization to reduce scrap steel in conjunction with maximizing efficiency of laser cutter

Qualifications:


  • Has knowledge of the operation of Laser Cutting automated system
  • Knowledge of press brake operation programming
  • Experience multitasking and working in a fastpaced environment
  • Several years of experience in a unionized production plant
  • Knowledge of company policies and related legislation (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act)
  • Ability to use a personal computer and various software packages (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets)
  • Understanding of machine function, operation & requirements
  • Ability to conceptualize from basic requirements
  • An intermediateadvanced understanding of robotics / automation controls and PLC's coupled with strong AutoCAD Inventor
