Computer Network Operations Officer - Hay River, NT, Canada - Cando Rail & Terminals
Description
The Operations Supervisors are responsible for Cando's day to day and shift by shift operations while ensuring customer commitments are met safely and on time.
Actively participates in the execution of Cando's Safety Management Plan and Initiatives including audits and reports; Facilitates employee meetings to emphasize safety and discuss safety risks; participates on customer safety and quality teams as requiredPerforms regular audits and confirms that all preventative and scheduled maintenance and inspections are completed as required to ensure the facility and equipment remains in prime operating conditions at all times
Management and Administration
Assists in managing monthly budgets, service plans, personnel development plans, timekeeping and resource requirements
Manages the customer and contract owner business relationship
Assists in establishing and maintaining the operating team including participation in hiring, coaching, leading activities, monitoring payroll and WCB functions
Maintains standard operating procedures, operating the site safely and meeting all regulatory requirements
Leads others in adapting to innovative work environments and ensures company initiatives, decisions, and policies are communicated
Provides for the delivery of training and developmental requirements related to the department through employee coaching and mentoring
Trains team members and provides operational assistance and expertise when required
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with people of all backgrounds and levels of comprehension including managers, employees, customers, and the public
Understands effective cost monitoring, control, reporting, and bottom-line profitability and accountability
Proficient in the use of computer equipment, operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets and database software
Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary certification and meet all safety and customer requirements including clear drug and alcohol testing; hold and maintain a valid provincial driver's license
Minimum five (5) years' working in heavy industrial environment; rail experience is an asset including current or past operating rules qualifications
Rail Supervision experience is an asset
Experience working with Safety Management Systems
