    Description

    PRIMARY ROLE

    The primary role of the Electrical Engineer, working closely with the Senior Electrical Engineers and the EIC Department Manager, is to design and deliver technical Electrical Engineering solutions based on client specifications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS

    Provide Electrical Engineering technical solutions in accordance with client specifications, and applicable codes and standards.

    Provide estimates for project costs, resources and scheduling for delivery of projects.

    Provide detailed calculations, specifications of equipment, as well as review and check electrical designs and drawings.

    Address technical queries and respond to project delivery issues, ensuring timely resolution to the client's satisfaction.

    Provide appropriate level of technical support to internal and external stakeholders as required.

    Ensure engineering quality control and quality assurance of project work.

    SKILL, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE BASE REQUIREMENTS

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    4-9 years' experience working on the electrical engineering component of projects, preferably within the oil and gas industry.

    Experience with LV (Low Voltage) and medium voltage equipment up to 5kV.

    Experience with PLC system design.

    KNOWLEDGE BASE REQUIREMENTS

    Good knowledge of Electrical codes and standards, familiar with Canadian Electrical Code, Workplace Electrical Safety, API Standards, IEEE Standards, NFPA Standards related to electrical design

    Hazardous area classification design

    Good knowledge of discipline specific equipment and materials

    Good understanding of processes common in the oil and gas industry

    Good knowledge of other disciplines and the interface requirements

    Proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

    Good understanding of MCC (Motor Control Centre), VFD (Variable Frequency Drives) and UPS (Uninterruptible power supply)

    Electrical Heat Trace Design using vendor software

    Knowledge of ETAP and/or SKM software to produce load flow studies, short circuit calculations, motor starting studies and protection co-ordination studies.

    Ability to read and interpret P&ID and line designation tables and to extract information needed for electrical scope of work.

    Knowledge of grounding and electromagnetic interference.

    Knowledge of, and ability to comply with, standards and procedures in Tridyne Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

    COMMUNICATION

    Excellent communicator, both verbally and written

    Comfortable communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Post-Secondary Education / Designation

    PEng with APEGA, and other Provincial Engineering bodies an asset

    Degree in Electrical Engineering

    SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

    Promote safe and healthy work place.

    Promote health and safety awareness.

    Identify, investigate and correct unsafe practices.

    Complies with and enforces standards and procedures of Tridyne Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
