Responsibilities:
We are looking for a highly organized and motivated PhD student to be a Research Assistant (RA) for a project on technology facilitated sexual violence among young people.
The RA will work with a vibrant team on a SSHRC funded project titled _Digitally Informed Youth (DIY): Digital Safety_ - which runs until April 2027.
The RA should have an interest in gender, sexual violence, technology facilitated violence, regulation, and/or youth education.Applicants should also have evidence of strong organisational or project management skills and a willingness to (learn how to) conduct and analyse qualitative research.
Most of the RA's role will involve coordinating, recruiting, and managing focus groups about technology-facilitated sexual violence with young people ages 13-18 across Canada.
As such, while prior experience with focus groups or qualitative research is an asset, we are open to hiring a student who is willing to learn these skills, including using NVivo software to analyse data.

Experience:
- 1 year of work experience in a related academic research environment
Essential Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Academic expertise in relevant areas (e.g., education, genderbased violence, technologyfacilitated violence, sexual violence, and/or youth)
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Willingness to (learn how to) conduct and analyse focus groups with diverse groups of young people (under 18)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team
- Proven ability to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful, and diplomatic manner
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
Preferred Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
- Prior experience working in research teams
- Project management skills and ability to coordinate groups
- Budget management
Additional Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

- Ability to maintain a social media account or website
- Fluency in French
