Partnered with Meridia, Inflector is in search of a Health and Safety Coordinator to service their location in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


Role Description
As the Health and Safety Coordinator, you will oversee and implement the health and safety programs at Inflector.

This would include duties such as incident and accident investigation, performing COR audits, hazard assessments, and chairing the JOHS committee monthly meetings.

In addition to these duties, you will also perform site visits across the HRM and occasionally in New Brunswick and PEI while fostering a culture of safety within the organization.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Representing Inflector on matters of health & safety with clients and provincial bodies
  • Carrying out regular inspections at project and construction sites
  • Completing project specific hazard assessments on worksites and advising construction and project managers of areas of concern
  • Accident, incident and near miss investigations
  • JOHS (Joint Occupational Health & Safety) committee including, chair monthly meetings, writing agenda & minutes, following up on minute items
  • Travel as required to job locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and PEI
  • Audit, maintain and prepare safety documentation using SiteDocs
  • Manage and order office/warehouse first aid supplies, fire extinguishers and PPE
  • Conduct the annual COR safety audit for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
  • Assisting in filing Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claims
  • Analyze and report monthly and quarterly safety trends within the Atlantic Division
  • Planning and delivering new employee orientation

Your Qualifications
As a safety professional, you are someone who will proactively seek out ways to implement and improve safety programs.

If you witness unsafe activities or violations, you can act assertively to rectify situations and you have a proven ability to identify new hazards during job site or facility visits and can give direction to site personnel accordingly.

Your strong communication skills help you build buy-in within the organization and you are known for building trusting relationships amongst a variety of staff.


Your qualifications include:

  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • 12 years experience in construction management, health and safety, or similar role.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to engage workers and members of management.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, etc.
  • Safety designations such as NCSO, NHSA, CSS considered a strong asset.
  • Other certifications such as WHIMIS, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness and Fall Protection considered an asset.
