Position:
Program Coordinator


35 hours per week - $30 per hour


The Lower Mainland Purpose Society in partnership with the City of New Westminster, New Westminster Police Department, and Public Safety Canada is currently in search of a
Permanent Full-Time Program Coordinator for the newly developed New Westminster Youth Hub through the Building Safer Communities Fund.


This program is aimed at supporting youth who may be involved or at-risk of being involved in gang or gun related activities in the community through prevention and intervention strategies.

This will be accomplished by addressing the sources of youth violence and empowering young people and the community to create and implement solutions while maintaining public safety.


JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • Develop and implement evidencebased youth gang prevention and intervention strategies, such as mentoring, life skills, prosocial activities, family reunification, educational support, and employment workshops.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and government agencies to identify youth gangrelated issues and develop effective solutions in partnership.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings and events to engage youth and community members in discussions about youth gang prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Research and deliver informative presentations in the community related to gun and gang activity.
  • Analyze crime data and trends to identify areas of concern and develop tactics to address them.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on program progress and statistics for funders and community stakeholders.
  • Develop and analyze program policies and manuals.
  • Supervise and train program staff and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, psychology, social work, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with atrisk youth.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience writing/analyzing policies.
  • Strong research/presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of evidencebased practices related to youth gang prevention and intervention.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, conflict resolution, oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR; completion of crisis intervention and suicide prevention training an asset.
  • Class 5 driver license and vehicle required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record clearance working with vulnerable populations.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings.
