    Life Sciences Leader

    We are seeking a talented individual with a solid background in the Science buildings sector to join our team in Canada. This role can be based in any of our Canadian offices: Toronto, Montreal, or Calgary. We are looking for a candidate who can offer technical expertise, drive business growth, and manage client relationships to strengthen our established business and explore new opportunities in the Science field.



    Our ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, management, and technical skills specific to the Science industry. Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in advancing the life science market in Canada and the broader Americas region. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this individual will contribute to the overall management of our Canadian team.



    Responsibilities:



    • Maintain regular communication with key clients and partners, fostering existing relationships and cultivating new ones.
    • Proactively network to bring in opportunities that drive project success and establish strategic partnerships.
    • Represent Arup at a high level nationally and internationally, showcasing our Science expertise and positioning us as leaders in the industry.
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive science business strategy aligned with Arup's regional and global objectives.
    • Establish and achieve financial performance goals.
    • Promote a culture of learning and improvement within the team.
    • Make strategic decisions and implement system enhancements to boost team performance.
    • Act as a liaison for project details with clients, stakeholders, and partners.
    • Lead project meetings involving stakeholders, Arup leadership, clients, and partners.
    • Forecast and plan resource needs for projects while ensuring accountability for financial outcomes.
    • Negotiate contracts for Arup services to mitigate risks and maximize value delivery.


    Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
    • 15+ years of experience in the built environment.
    • Minimum of 10 years of project delivery experience in the Science sector, including laboratories, R&D facilities, and pharmaceutical projects.
    • Professional Engineering license in Canada.
    • Experience in management, business development, and team leadership.
    • Demonstrated business acumen and financial aptitude.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills.
    • Familiarity with Canadian Building Codes and Standards.
