Summary/Objective
The Facility Maintenance /technician is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining building components and equipment of the entire facility. They are also responsible for routine building and production equipment inspections, reporting any issues to their Manager. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Sets maintenance priorities in order to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in the production area.
- Works with external contractors to facilitate building maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain exterior walkways in a safe condition during winter months.
- Complete building maintenance as required including plumbing and electrical work, such as unclogging sinks and toilets, lighting replacement and repair.
- Assembles, installs new equipment, repairs, reworks and troubleshoots electromechanical assemblies and production equipment.
- Complete and submit purchase requests for parts/materials as necessary.
- Creates and maintains all required documentation, service records and logs related to production activities.
- Report all incidents and repairs needed to the Operations Manager.
- Makes recommendations for improvements, modification, upgrades and report findings to supervisor on a timely basis.
- Ensures the safe operation of each work area and each work project.
- Perform machining requirements, including the proper use of lathes, mills, surface grinders, drill press, welding and brazing equipment and other machine shop related practices.
- Keeps workplace and surrounding areas clean and organized.
- Complies with the Occupational Health & Safety regulations and health & safety policies of the company and informs management of unsafe work conditions.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or postsecondary diploma in mechanical/ electrical engineering with minimum 2 years' work experience in warehouse operations, production, industrial maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Millwright license is preferred.
- Industrial maintenance experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in cold temperatures of 0degree C to 10degrees C.
- Very strong problemsolving and criticalthinking skills, able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
- High attention to detail with time management skills.
- Resultsoriented and organized, strong focused on producing high quality work within tight timelines.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
- Team player, with a positive cando attitude, flexible and adaptable to change.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position has no direct reports.
Work Environment
Warehouse environment with exposure to:
- Cold environment of a cooler with temperature between 0 degree Celsius to 10 degree Celsius;
- some noise associated with forklift traffic;
- working on machines for maintenance etc.
Expected Hours of Work
- This is a regular fulltime position.
Salary:
$19.50-$20.00 per hour
