Description

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for a proven leader to fill the Adult Fitness & Lifestyle Supervisor position.

The AFL Supervisor creates a safe and positive atmosphere in all adult fitness services and programs that welcomes and respects all individuals.

The Supervisor will also provide effective supervision and leadership in directing the overall delivery of all Adult Fitness & Lifestyle programs and services in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire and train all staff and volunteers within the Adult Fitness & Lifestyle program area.
  • Effective leadership, ongoing coaching, supervision and management of all Wellness Coaches, Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors.
  • Champion Adult Fitness & Lifestyle volunteer recruitment and retention strategies on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure YMCA service standards for Adult Fitness & Lifestyle services and programs (Group Fitness & Fitness Centre) are consistently met. Respond to service challenges and customer complaints with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  • Create sessional group fitness schedules and perform ongoing evaluation of class schedule, ensuring all classes and programs are of highest quality and that class schedule is within identified minimum specifications as evidenced by attendance and satisfaction.
  • Ensure there is group fitness class coverage on a weekly basis and role model frontline service delivery by teaching a variety of group fitness classes on a regular basis.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA (including but not limited to staff & volunteer certification tracking, group fitness class and Fitness Centre attendance.)
  • Manage Adult Fitness & Lifestyle annual budget, ensuring that revenue, expense and contribution targets are met.
  • Undertake participant and community engagement to identify new fitness programs that meet the needs of adult participants seeking opportunities to increase their health, wellness or social connectivity.
  • Assist with branch Duty Manager coverage on a weekly basis.
  • Support the department, branch and association in implementing and achieving goals.

What

You'll

Need for This Job

  • Postsecondary degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Education or related experience is considered an asset.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a leadership capacity in a fitness or recreation environment is considered an asset
  • Current group fitness certification through the YMCA, CanFitPro or AFLCA and previous experience leading group fitness classes
  • Experience and certifications leading choreographed group fitness classes considered an asset
  • Current personal training certification through the YMCA, CSEP, CanFitPro, NASM or ISSA is considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
