Educator - Day Services - Montréal, Canada - Federation CJA
Description
The Educator's role is to work with participants of the Therapeutic Dementia Care Program (commonly referred to as the "Drop In") and their caregivers.
The Educator will facilitate therapeutic recreational programming based on the needs of older adults living with Dementia and provide support to caregivers in the program.
Duties
- Research, preparation, and implementation of stimulating inperson recreational
- Maintain a caseload of participants and their respective caregivers. This consists of
dementia, offering support and referrals to community resources.
- Collaborate and work in a multidisciplinary team with the program's core team, students,
- To assume administrative responsibilities and reporting requirements.
- Consult and work with internal and external professionals and community partners to build
Education, Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum Special Care Counselling DEC, Bachelor's degree is a plus (e.g. Therapeutic
- Experience in recreational activity planning
- Competency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Zoom
- Experience working with people living with dementia and their caregivers an asset
- Knowledge of the Jewish community and other cultures an asset
- Solid base of clinical knowledge and skills
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Organized, collaborative, works well with teams
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
