    Reporting to the Director, Institutional Research and Strategic Insights, The Institutional Performance Lead is a key position supporting the development and communication of strategic insights and the organizational performance of the college.

    The incumbent will identify, operationalize, design, socialize, and implement strategic performance metrics and tools for organizational and departmental health. A key deliverable will be the development and implementation of an executive corporate scorecard for the President's Leadership Team (PLT). The Institutional Performance Lead is responsible for identifying strategic, relevant, and leading metrics by collaborating and consulting with college leaders across the organization. The scorecard will focus on strategic metrics that refresh regularly to proactively monitor and assess organizational strength. The incumbent will work closely with Information Technology, Strategic Planning, and Digital Innovation, and other college areas to ensure consistent and timely access to essential college data sources and systems.

    The Institutional Performance Lead will be the subject matter expert for identifying and operationalizing the metrics associated with Georgian's Strategic Plan and supporting the development of cascading department-level operational key results (OKRs) and performance metrics by working directly with the college's senior leaders. The successful incumbent will collaborate with a variety of functional areas to design measures of institutional health and performance-goal alignment. As an integral member of various cross-functional teams and committees, the incumbent supports strategic and academic planning initiatives, promotes institutional alignment, and champions data-informed decision-making, organizational effectiveness, capacity-building and continuous improvement.

    The Institutional Performance Lead will collaborate with various college constituents to: define, manage, integrate, streamline and align institutional performance reporting -systems and processes and enhance the college's overall understanding and achievement of performance outcomes to further its mission and north star of an unrivaled student experience.

    The incumbent communicates strategic insights through the production of reports and dashboards and by delivering presentations to facilitate strategic discussions. The Institutional Performance Lead will analyze confidential and sensitive performance metrics to assess risks and opportunities. To do so, the incumbent needs to develop a strong understanding of the business objectives for each portfolio in the college, and identify appropriate research, data, decision, discussion, and improvement opportunities to achieve target success outcomes.

    This is a dynamic and critical position that will operationalize the priorities and strategic goals of the college to identify and report objective and measurable success metrics and targets to advise senior leaders of any risks to organizational health and operational success. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Works collaboratively with senior leaders to identify leading performance indicators by recommending metrics that align with organizational performance for each portfolio.
  • Designs institutional performance reporting tools, including identifying metrics and maintaining a corporate dashboard.
  • Works closely with Information Technology, Human Resources, Advancement, Student Success, Finance, and other key departments to access institutional data to be reported in the corporate scorecard.
  • Manages the development and implementation of the corporate scorecard including establishing the reporting cadence and ensuring efficiency with the refresh of the scorecard.
  • Designs reporting tools and visualizations to effectively communicate institutional performance as well as identify/flag performance that is outside targets.
  • Ensures that data and information is available to senior management and other stakeholders at the college to make evidence-based decisions on strategic issues.
  • Provides guidance and direction to the college community on matters relating to the operationalization of strategic goals, institutional effectiveness, and performance reporting.
  • Resolves complex operational issues regarding performance measurement discrepancies/anomalies independently and/or by working effectively with representatives from other internal departments in an efficient manner.
  • Streamlines and automates the collection, extraction, and integration of data by building effective and efficient data models and visualization tools including dashboards.
  • Investigates and stays current with new technologies, innovations, etc. that could improve efficiencies in the creation, refresh, and communication of the corporate scorecard and other reporting tools.
  • Contributes to the identification and compilation of strategic research questions to inform strategic planning, strategic insights, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Develops resources by connecting key research questions to current research/data collection methods and data sources, limitations of existing data and desired future state of information collection along with data availability timelines, data steward, etc.
  • Conducts comprehensive environmental scans, monitors trends in higher education, and provides strategic insights through complex institutional and external data analysis.
  • Facilitates and works with key groups (i.e., Strategic Planning, Strategic Insights Council and Strategic Enrolment Management Steering Committee, etc.), to provide actionable analytics and recommendations for continuous organizational improvement.
  • Supports senior leadership in their need for information/data/insights to support strategic planning and decision-making and understanding of outcomes achieved.
  • Works closely with college leaders to compile, theme, and disseminate strategic planning-related information and insights.
  • Prepares presentations and materials for meetings, including for the President's Leadership Team, Senior Leadership Council, Strategic Insights Council, and other cross-functional strategic teams.
  • Takes the lead in disseminating academic insights to portfolio/program areas identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to assist with, and inform, strategic decision-making.
  • Delivers presentations to various audiences and guides discussion to help continuously improve the college's data and insights strategies.
  • Participates in strategic enrolment discussions and provides actionable intelligence specific to new program opportunities and improvement/expansion of existing academic programs.
  • Conceptualizes, defines, and assists with the development of cascading department-level operational key results (OKRs) in consultation with Strategic Planning and other collaborators.
  • Based on the operationalization of the college strategic directions, works with Strategic Planning, senior leaders, external consultants, etc. to develop departmental templates for monitoring/assessing OKR achievement
  • Develop, tests, and participates in the development and maintenance of models, tools and prototypes used for evaluation and performance measurement.
  • Works closely with individual departments to define and understand their business objectives in order to identify appropriate performance measures and develop reporting solutions and self-serve analytical products for ongoing monitoring, continuous improvement and year-end reporting.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully completed a Master's degree in an appropriate discipline such as statistics, social sciences, business, or educational research. Graduate-level training in research methodology, advanced statistics and/or data visualization would be an asset.
  • Minimum seven years of experience analyzing, designing, developing, testing, implementing, supporting, and demonstrating business applications (for business intelligence and data analytics).
  • Experience building/managing data sets and data models by analyzing data contained in the corporate database, legacy systems and other data sources.
  • Experience with the design and development of organizational performance metrics, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with environmental scanning, research methods and community consultations.
  • Experience using business intelligence systems/tools, reporting/SQL queries, relational database management techniques and applications.
  • Demonstrated experience using data analytics platforms (COGNOS, Power BI, etc.) to create meaningful and compelling data visualizations and interactive dashboards.
  • Proven ability to conduct analysis and statistical hypotheses testing for categorical, multivariate, and longitudinal data, draw inferences, determine correlation/causality, and evaluate impacts and outcomes.
  • Experience with developing effective forecasting models and identifying/applying appropriate assumptions.
  • Experience with strategic planning, business planning, operational planning, project planning and business process improvement in a complex organizational environment.
  • Experience in project management, group consultation/engagement and group facilitation.
  • ·Experience preparing and delivering presentations and related materials for various audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize new solutions or opportunities to deliver results, streamline and improve systems and processes and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Highly motivated and able to function in high-volume, high-pressure environments with competing and overlapping project timelines.
  • Strong influencing, persuasion, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication – presentation and report writing skills, diplomacy, tact.
  • Sound judgement, problem solving, critical decision-making and conflict resolution.
