    Reporting to Manager, Marketing Analytics, this position is accountable for short-term market analysis of WCSB crude, condensate markets; supply modeling in support of marketing activities and commercial decisions.

    The successful candidate will have crude, NGLs analytical and upstream supply modeling experience, and be able to develop unique market insights and independently translate these views into tradable ideas in order to be executed by the crude and condensate traders.

    The Senior Crude Analyst must be passionate about covering oil/condensate markets and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment that is constantly evolving.

    Market analytics professional focused on short-term market analysis in support of trading /marketing activities and corporate commercial decisions.
    Key stakeholders that this role will partner with are Trading, Corporate Fundamentals, Strategy, Cenovus Senior Leaders.
    Research and understand the fundamental drivers related to short-term ()
    Provide timely and consistent market intelligence/summary to key business units and senior leadership.
    Collaborate with trading desk to develop risk/reward analysis of trading optimization opportunities.
    Generate ad-hoc analyses requested by trading/various business units to support various commercial strategies.

    Develop unique market insights and independently translate these views into tradable ideas, risk management strategies and/or physical optimization opportunities to be executed primarily by crude and condensate traders.

    Support traders and business development with analysis in valuation of assets and strategies.

    Articulate the risk/reward profile, market backdrop and commercial drivers of the trading activities to different stakeholders in the organization.

    Support the development of the analytics platform, data infrastructure, and technology stack.
    Post-secondary degree in a numeric field (Statistics, Finance, Economics/Econometrics, Computer Science, Geophysics or Engineering)
    Professional engineer (Reservoir Engineer) would be considered an asset
    Knowledge of R, Microsoft Office Products required.

    Internal candidates that are currently in a lower grade will be assessed based on their sustained job performance, how they demonstrate the expected organizational competency behaviors and values and in discussions with their current leader prior to determining next steps.
