ROLE
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for inventory forecasting, procurement, controls, and material delivery scheduling.

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for all documentation, processes and procedures to ensure an efficient and accurate inventory management system.

The incumbent will also conduct inventory counts, with accountability for regular cycle counting.

This role will have hands-on work as well as responsibility for evaluating and planning all necessary improvements to the inventory system.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Inventory

  • Accurate and timely entry of inventory transactions in the system in order to expedite material flow as well as to ensure appropriate controls are applied
  • Prepare packing slips for deliveries
  • Work closely with warehouse staff to ensure timely and accurate receipt and release/delivery of materials
  • Communicate with the Project Managers, electrical and mechanical trades and fancoil manufacturers to ensure equipment is on site when required
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts (cycle counts, quarterly counts, etc.)
  • Develop inventory reports using data from multiple sources such as MS Navision and MS Excel
  • Solicit and integrate data from multiple sources e.g. installations, project managers, suppliers etc. to forecast, procure, expedite and schedule deliveries of metering inventory
  • Develop and implement inventory controls as approved by the Director.
  • Act as backup to the Director in terms of warehouse and deliveries staff leadership on an asneeded basis.

Procurement

  • Maintain relationships with the suppliers to ensure retention of stock minimums, ontime deliveries, etc; appropriately responding to pricing reviews from suppliers
  • Prepare RFPs, and evaluating vendors
  • Negotiate supply terms including prices with vendors;
  • Proactively identify the need for new or alternative suppliers and conduct the research and negotiations to recruit new suppliers
  • Forecast and procure inventory (over $10 million value per year)
  • Ensure timely submission and payment of supplier invoices
  • Proactively review supply chain processes and systems and suggest and implement improvements when possible
  • Develop and maintain supplier assessments, and conduct annual supplier reviews
  • Create tools and processes for proactive supplier management across all SKUs
  • Any and all other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives

REQUIREMENTS

  • Postsecondary diploma/degree/certificate in logistics or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in Inventory/Procurement
  • Must be highly proficient in MS Office including Excel
  • Inventory management system usage experience an asset; experience with Microsoft Navision strongly preferred
  • Strong written & oral communication skills

  • Able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Warehouse environment
  • Duties may occasionally include physically moving material in the warehouse
  • Occasional standing, pushing, pulling or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent sitting at desk using manual dexterity to operate computer and peripherals.
  • Occasional travel (with own vehicle) to construction sites within GTA with appropriate PPE worn
