Basic Purpose:


Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Cook will work as part of the Stages Line team to contribute to customer satisfaction by preparing and serving high quality food products in accordance with the standards of DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton.


Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):

  • Meets and exceeds customer and team member expectations by providing superior service and teamwork
  • Prepares and properly garnishes all menu items, including salads, sandwiches, specially plates and other food orders as they are received in accordance with established menu specifications
  • Sets work stations for forecasted covers, reservations and all special functions
  • Provides value and added service to customer by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Communicates effectively with customers, coworkers and supervisors
  • Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting coworkers as needed
  • Handles difficult situations effectively
  • Meets hotel service standards
  • Performs other duties as required to provide superior service and teamwork
  • Works out on floor for special events; carving meats for customers, working pasta and omelet stations
  • Maintains cleanliness and stocking of coolers and storage areas
  • Prepares food with necessary approvals according to policy
  • Takes proper care of ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles and other equipment and utensils
  • Adheres to hotel policies and procedures
  • Attends work on time as scheduled
  • Follows hotel grooming and dress standards
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems and unusual matters of significance
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:


  • Energetic and flexible, able to work under pressure
  • Selfmotivated, creative, capable of working in a team environment
  • Demonstrate positive leadership potential
  • Must be able to work mornings and weekends
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent guest, customer and employee relations skills
  • Must have reliable transportation due to early morning shifts

Working Conditions:


  • Standing, moving, bending.
  • Early mornings, weekends and holiday hours as required.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time

Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements)

  • Cook Journeyman certification or equivalent an asset
  • Minimum 23 years' experience
  • Food Safe Certificate credentials required
