Quality Inspector is primarily responsible for making sure the technical specifications, drawings and project requirements are met by conducting inspections of the assigned work, documenting the process, inspecting materials, including material properties, handling and storage, and coordinating test activities.
You will be paired with a Senior Quality Inspector until confident on your own in the field.Please note this position is a contract until September 2023, with the potential to be extended.
Responsibilities
- Liaise directly with construction team, including survey, laboratory and other team members on site
- Attend meetings with the construction and subcontractor's team
- Witness testing and inspection by relevant parties
- Verify the implementation of remedial actions for nonconformances with construction personnel
- Advise the Quality Manager of any work that is not performed in accordance with project requirements
- Reject works not performed in accordance with project requirements, and releases work found compliant to the project requirements
- Ensure inspections are conducted and results retained as quality records in accordance with ITPs, drawing, technical specifications and project requirements
- Notify and liaise with client site representatives on all site inspections associated with client's witness and hold points
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional communication skills
- Proficient at report writing, reviewing, and interpretation of results
- Competency with MS Excel, MS Word
- Ability to work either dayshift/nightshift, alone or with team
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently or with team
- Ability to effectively and efficiently problemsolve and tackle testing issues
- Able to handle multitasking and maintain focus in a busy work place
- Able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of related experience in Quality Role, in Heavy Civil, Hydro, or construction projects with thorough experience in civil works inspection
- Bachelor's Degree or college Diploma in an applied Science or engineering field with a preference for civil engineering
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean drivers abstract
