This is a short term contract until the end of September 2023

Position Summary:


Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector - Lead is primarily responsible for making sure the technical specifications, drawings and project requirements are met by coordinating inspections of the assigned work, documenting the process, inspecting materials, including material properties, handling and storage, and coordinating test activities.


Responsibilities

  • Perform observations and inspections mainly related to Heavy Civil works.
  • Implement, coordinate and maintain quality systems and procedures in accordance with assigned project specifications.
  • Ensure Quality Records are accurately completed with QMP and ITP a focus on the required quality processes and the specification requirements for the related discipline activity.
  • Initiate nonconformity processes when materials, products, tools, equipment or work instructions do not meet the required specifications.
  • Review contract documents and participate in the development of the quality management plan and Inspection Test plan (ITP) and advises the Quality Manager of any necessary changes or revisions to the quality plan and ITP.
  • Coordinate needed tests on site and in the laboratory (third party) to ensure conformity of material and works according to the contract specifications.
  • Ensure that contractors comply with works' specifications and ensured that the company's Quality System is applied and effective.
  • Measure and test materials, equipment, products and processes as delivered.
  • Promote quality achievement and performance throughout the project organization.
  • Setting quality compliance objectives and standards of service, and ensuring targets are achieved.
  • Develop and updates all inspection forms for heavy civil works.
  • Liaise with Project Team, Client, Regulatory Agencies, Consultants and Subcontractors and Suppliers to ensure the quality management system is functioning properly, advises on changes and their implementation strategies.
  • Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated.
  • Following up with Corrective Actions closure, implements actions of preventive measure and update the system with all record and documentations in order to close the nonconformities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proficient at report writing, reviewing, and interpretation of results
  • Competency with MS Excel, MS Word
  • Ability to work either dayshift/nightshift, with a team
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently problemsolve and tackle testing issues
  • Able to handle multitasking and maintain focus in a busy work place
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Excellent ability to clearly explain advanced technical issues in a manner that is easily understood
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a Quality Role, in Heavy Civil, Hydro, or construction projects with thorough experience in civil works inspection
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in an applied Science or engineering field with a preference for Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a Quality Role, in Heavy Civil, Hydro, or construction projects
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
