Crane Operator Journeyperson Tonne

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, Crane Operators operate cranes or draglines to lift, move, position or place machinery, equipment and other large objects on an active construction site.
You must be available to start immediately
Note that this is a short-term position for a duration of 1-2 months only
Must be proficient in operating 60-90T Rove RT Cranes and 130T Tadano Cranes
Responsibilities:
- Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials
- Perform preoperational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting
- Manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions
- Operate crane according to signals from helper
- Move levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis to raise and lower crane boom and to raise and lower loadline
- Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures
- Operate cranes equipped with dredging attachments to dredge waterways and other areas
- Operate cranes to load and unload objects and materials
- Operate cranes to lift, move and place plant machinery and materials
- May assemble tower cranes on site
- Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Able to identify all hand signals, weight limits, safety regulations, and operating codes that are relevant for crane operation
- Must be team player and must be willing to participate in company safety and production requirements
- Work with in precise limits and standards of accuracy
- Familiarity with active construction sites
- Completion of a crane operation apprenticeship and registration as a Red Seal or BC Journeyman
- Must register with BC Crane Safety
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Experience with crane operation in a construction or mining environment with Tonne cranes, specifically 6090T Rove RT Cranes and 130T Tadano Cranes
- Able to pass any preaccess screening, including a Drug and Alcohol test
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be physically fit and able to work in remote camp locations
- Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts, dayshift only
- Physically able to work outdoors performing hard labour tasks
- Must be able to work access/board equipment in areas with uneven ground or snow or softground/surface water
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance
- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
Job Types:
