Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, Shift Optimization, the Shift Scheduling Specialist is the focal point for preparing, adapting, establishing and implementing operational personnel shift schedules in a complex scheduling environment.

Job Requirements

Education:

Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Experience:

3 or more years of experience in employee scheduling
Experience in providing administrative or operations support.

The following experience factors will be considered an asset:

Experience with pay and leave systems
Supervisory and Instructional experience
Experience in the interpretation of collective agreements

Knowledge:

Knowledge of collective agreements, NCJC and CLC guidelines and regulations as well as corporate policies and / or guidelines, administrative policies, practices and procedures
Knowledge of the Air Traffic Services environment and experience in coordinating and providing administrative support services in an operational environment
Knowledge of HR automated pay and leave systems and their interaction with the Employee Scheduling System

Abilities:

Ability to perform scheduling tasks in telework or flexible work environment
Ability to work autonomously and support a virtual team
Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize work tasks
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to provide advice to management and represented employees

Personal Suitability:

The work requires the ability to provide assistance/guidance to management, staff and site personnel in support of the scheduling processes
Demonstrates professionalism and tact within team and with all stakeholders
Committed to working within team to achieve shared goal

Working Conditions:

This position will be responsible for shift scheduling in the Toronto Flight Information Region and will be required to work hours consistent with this time zone.
