Position Summary:


Using their in-depth financial and business knowledge, analysis skills, and experience the Financial Analyst will provide advice, make recommendations, and identify opportunities/risks that will affect the operations and sustainability of the project.


This position will join the Master Plan Finance team in a collective mission to serve as a liaison between the Finance and Capital Planning & Redevelopment departments.


Collaborating with senior management, program/project leadership, physicians, government, vendors, and other enabling team members, this position facilitates the integration of financial information to enable effective and efficient business planning and project implementation, financial performance planning, monitoring, forecasting and financial resource allocation.


This position will liaise with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Infrastructure Ontario (IO) in developing cost share agreements, local share submissions, and funding requests and reconciliations.


The Financial Analyst will coordinate with Shared Services West (SSW) and Mohawk MedBuy (MMC) to ensure efficient procurement and payment processes.


Responsibilities:


  • Independently create connections and relationships with key stakeholders to provide innovative ideas, analysis, direction, and recommendations on financial & business related issues, resource requests, process & internal controls, and financial impact of decision making with supporting analysis
  • Develop cost reports, briefing notes, business cases, external reporting, and ensure compliance and reconciliation of funding letters for project initiatives that align to planning parameters and help build funding advocacy strategies
  • Maintain project budgets in coordination with project management, monthly variance analysis and interpretation of financial results
  • Support the Fiscal Sustainability Subcommittee in coordinating agendas and materials
  • Coordinate with Shared Services West (SSW) and Mohawk MedBuy (MMC) to ensure efficient procurement and payment processes
  • Support and mentor financial analyst in payment processing, accounting, and procurement requests

Key Qualifications:

  • Business/Commerce Degree, with CPA an asset
  • Experience on large hospital construction projects and knowledge of MOH capital project cost sharing policy an asset
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a large organization preferred
  • Strong financial planning, analytical, modelling and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate with varying levels of employees and management
  • Resilient in complex work, strong ability to prioritize and problem solve
  • Experience and proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Meditech, and Basware an asset
