Field Safety Coordinator to our team


The
Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety of construction crews, in conjunction with the site foreman's, constructions managers, client contacts on site.

The incumbent is responsible for administering and overseeing compliance to Norseman's health, safety and environmental program.

The
Field Safety Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring compliance to all applicable Legislation pertaining to the work performs and client site requirements.

The safety coordinator is responsible for providing ongoing education and advice to crews, foreman and management where improvement is required.

Regular interactions will take place with site HSE personnel, clients and the internal construction and project management teams.

In the event of an incident, this role will conduct an investigation to identify root causes and corrective actions required.


Responsibilities of the Field Safety Coordinator

  • Oversee site safety compliance as per the Norseman Safety Program
  • Identify safety training requirements and competency deficiencies
  • Conduct safety orientations on site
  • Document and maintain the site Emergency Preparedness & Response Plans
  • Receive, consider, and resolve matters concerning health and safety of workers
  • Participate in the identification and control of hazards
  • Conduct specific construction site safety inspections when required
  • Administer the Norseman audit program for construction sites
  • Ensure compliance to Provincial COR requirements
  • Conduct and document incident investigations and identify root cause(s) and corrective actions required
  • Receive and distribute information regarding health and safety to workers
  • Escalation of health and safety matters to management
  • Participate in internal and external project kickoff meetings
  • Liaise with customer representative HSE personnel
  • Organize and participate in tool box talks reflecting leading indicators and lessons learned
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives associated with HSE
  • Participate in the development of the annual fresh start program for Construction employees
  • Review the subcontractor safety statistics, documentation and training to ensure compliance with our program.
  • Assist in the review and maintenance of the company Safety Manual
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for the Field Safety Coordinator

  • 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in construction.
  • Holds or working towards NCSO designation
  • Postsecondary education in a related safety field
  • COR Auditing experience would be an asset
  • Level 1 and 2 OHS safety training
  • Ability to train or give instruction to others along with coaching and communicating with various groups in an efficient manner
  • Relationship management skills with the ability to engage and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site personnel and customers
  • Ability to work independently
