The
Construction Manager provides leadership in the performance of all activities related to the execution of the construction work, contracts administration, quality control, construction planning, cost control, materials management, tools and equipment management, labour relations, Health, Safety, Environmental and Accident prevention.
Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling construction activities of the project.
The construction manager will oversee the site superintendents responsible for the on-site construction operations on a day-to-day basis to ensure that work is completed safely, on time, within budget, adheres to quality expectations and fulfill contractual obligations.
Responsibilities of the Construction Manager
- Manage construction phase of projects from planning to completion
- Ensure the implementation of the Project HSE plan to provide a safe work environment aiming at a zero incident target
- Develop the construction execution plan, including ensuring materials, manpower, equipment, construction processes, and site authorizations are in place, approved by the customer and communicated to construction team members prior to site mobilization
- Ensure the project Quality plan and that all quality and technical specifications are implemented and adhered to
- Support site superintendents in dealing with any delays that may happen at the construction site, revising schedules and budgets as needed, and reordering tasks or priorities to meet target completion date.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to both onsite contractors and Norseman crews
- Supervise staff and keep them safe, motivated and focused on the job
- Train and assist direct reports in their personal development
- Evaluate the performance for each of his/her direct subordinates
- Establish professional working relationships with the customers' Construction Management teams
- Conduct site visits and work place audits on a regular basis
- Manage relationships of Norseman vendors and subcontractors through regular communication
- Participate as an integral member of the team and contributes towards the success of the Company by performing other related duties as required.
- Support and promotes innovation in construction methodologies and processes
Qualifications of the Construction Manager

- Postsecondary education, with a focus on Construction Management or Project Management or a combination of relevant education and experience
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience, of which 3+ years must be in a proven managerial/supervisory role
- Steelframed, fabriccovered buildings installation experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through.
- Strong interpersonal with an ability to manage diverse personalities
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening)
- Technical competence
- Proficient computer skills
- Professional demeanor
