Reporting to the Process Control Supervisor, the Control System Technologist/Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and technical hands-on support of the DCS system and Network for the Redwater facility. The successful candidate will work directly with operations, maintenance, and projects departments to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Redwater Plants. The successful candidate will provide control system related technical assistance in order to ensure security, reliability and overall plant performance.

This position is located in Redwater, Alberta, Canada and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:

Works with Operations and Technical groups to plan and execute system upgrade projects encompassing DCS software, firmware, hardware and networking equipment

Maintains the DCS control system and system database to ensure operation and integrity of the control and information applications

Provides technical assistance and system control expertise for the analysis/investigation of abnormal operating situations and day-to-day DCS performance issues, and for their subsequent correction

Provides user training and assistance to Operators, Maintenance and Technical personnel to ensure safe and competent use of the DCS and related Information systems

Utilizes broad engineering and troubleshooting skills to ensure efficient maintenance and system security

At times may have to make emergency repair or other decisions to minimize system downtime or abnormal operation and their related costs

Participates in plant start-ups and shut-downs as required

Maintains documents and administer DCS network, system policies and preventative maintenance procedures

Stays up to date and informed of the latest Honeywell technical developments and cybersecurity vulnerabilities

What you will bring:

Bachelor of Sciences in an engineering related field, System Technologist, or Instrumentation Engineering Technologist with 8+ years of experience
Hands-on experience on Honeywell Experion DCS
Cisco Certified Network Associate or equivalent is preferred
Proficient in networking including switching, routing, and firewall management in an industrial environment
Thorough knowledge of OT security fundamentals and the guiding OT Cyber-Security Frameworks. ISA or GICSP OT certification would be an asset
