We are looking for a Cook to join our Venue Operations team at the
Art Gallery of Hamilton.


Major Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook large quantities of food consistent with standard catering practices.
  • Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor, ethics, and image, and reinforce the importance of a high standard of sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
  • Assessing and verifying adequate ingredients are prepared and ready for the day's production.
  • Ensuring the work station is clean, organized and sanitary.
  • Ensuring the work station is safe while complying with all health and safety guidelines and SOPs.
  • Ensuring that the workstation is closed down properly at the end of the shift, as outlined by SHFG food safety policy and relevant SOPs.
  • Proper organization of fridges, freezers and shelves.
  • Shows enthusiasm and motivation to complete job requirements in a timely manner.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a highvolume kitchen environment to prepare large quantities of food for catered events
  • Ability to work and cook both indoors and outdoors as necessary for catering events
  • Must be able to work all shifts which may include: days, evening, weekends and holidays
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work long periods of time in a standing position
  • Able to work in a temperature controlled environment (hot kitchen)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year cooking experience in a fastpaced environment
  • Culinary degree or diploma is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a team player

Experience:


  • Cooking: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
