Background:


Job Duties:

Manage information, including proponent files and correspondence, EA Agency files and correspondence, notes from legal teams, client documents, field notes, audio and video files;

  • Conduct literature reviews and archival searches related to environmental and human impact assessment and related legislation, regulations and policies;
  • Support communities undertaking Indigenousled impact assessments, and support communities who are parties to standard environmental impact assessment processes;
  • Work closely with Firelight researchers to conduct interviews and focus groups using consistent documentation protocols including providing support in interviews and other related field work duties in small remote communities;
  • Regular reporting and documentation of field results;
  • Assist with drafting and finalizing project reports;
  • Assist with data coding and quote pulling;
  • Update and track internal content management system (Sharefile) and supporting all team members to archive projectrelated documents and data effectively;
  • Research project and impact assessment coordination, including drafting of work proposals;
  • Support EA/Regulatory business development;
  • Prepare Scopes of Work and project budgets, and project manage including human resource allocations, budget, timeline and deliverable tracking, and invoicing support;
  • Assist and/or lead in drafting and finalizing Environmental Assessment deliverables internal memos, information requests, comments on draft reports, motions to compel, final arguments, mitigation and monitoring tables, etc.;
  • Travel regularly, including in remote communities; and
  • Support with administrative duties, special projects and other duties as may be required.

Qualifications:

Degree in environmental assessment, environmental sciences, social sciences, archival studies, equivalent education, or commensurate environmental assessment experience.

At least 2 years working on environmental assessment and/or regulatory files is preferred. Proven experience in team and project management


Required Skills (applicants must provide evidence of these skills):

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Experience coordinating projects and research teams.
  • Ability to work within a fastpaced environment and communicate effectively to diverse audiences, including Indigenous groups and their members.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly proficient with information management systems and protocols.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences such as existing and potential clients, funders, directors, associates, and internal staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability for duty travel on a regular basis in a timely fashion.
  • Driver's licence required.

Rated Skills (applicants will be comparatively assessed on these skills):

  • Ability to conduct research with Indigenous communities.
  • Ability to communicate well with Indigenous communities, especially staff and leadership.
  • Knowledge and use of social science research methodologies.
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessment in Canada.
