About the BCMB
The Beverage Container Management Board (BCMB) is the regulatory authority for beverage container recycling in Alberta.
Established as a management board under Alberta's Environmental and Protection and Enhancement Act, the BCMB is also a non-for-profit organization.
BCMB leads the development of policy and programs that enables the collection and recycling of beverage containers in Alberta.About the position
The BCMB is currently looking for one (1) Data Quality Clerk - Level I to join our Edmonton/Calgary based team.
This role is being introduced as an identified need during a period of high transition as the BCMB is undergoing a system conversion of its current registration database and portal.
This role is a temporary 2-year contract position.
Reporting to the Manager of Registrations, the Data Quality Clerk - Level I will be responsible for ensuring master data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining cleansing data in preparation for data migration, including data coming from legacy environments.
You will be responsible for providing quality assurance of imported data, removal of duplicate or irrelevant observations and filtering unwanted outliers.
The Data Quality Clerk - Level I is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of program data management through screening, diagnosing, treating, and documenting data.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
Registration and Manufacturer Programs:
- Making sure that raw data were accurately entered into a computer readable file.
- Reviewing validity of data including:
- _Valid characters, data values and date sequences,_
- _Eliminating duplicate data entries,_
- _Ensure complete information for variables where data is required,_
- _Aggregating and cleaning program data from multiple data files and sources,_
- _Identifying and correcting inaccuracies in the underlying data, and_
- _Implement error prevention strategies._
- Active maintenance of the data within the internal registration system and portal.
- Interpret datasets and provide ongoing feedback on insights derived from data.
- Managing data input, including creation, updates, and deletion.
- Providing quality assurance of imported/entered data.
- Processing confidential data and information according to guidelines.
- Work closely with registrations team and manufacturers/liquor agents to improve
entry procedures should be adapted to correct those patterns to reduce future
errors.
- Writing custom queries to find erroneous data (i.e., duplicates, spelling errors,
- Keeping a documented overview of the daily work; producing a daily report on data
- Assist with daytoday registration duties as assigned.
Ad Hoc Projects
- Assist the Manager of Registrations and Director of Operations on BCMB projects
- Research and remain informed of all relevant environmental, technological, and
- Assist in projects/initiatives related to the development of standards that impact
procedures, updates to the website, policy, and by-law amendments.
- Assist in developing communications to Manufacturers, Distributors and Retailers
registration of beverage containers.
- Data retention data and documentation cleanup.
Qualifications:
The role requires a minimum of a post-secondary diploma from an accredited community college or university in Business Administration or IT.
The Data Quality Clerk - Level I must have 3-5 years experience with statistics institute and or relevant work experience, proven experience with data cleansing and management of large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data and or experience with management and operations of databases.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.Requirements:
- Computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Internet web browsers.
