Description of position


As a behaviour support worker, you will work directly with children providing a safe, fun, compassionate and educational environment in a variety of locations.

You will be supported and overseen by the lead Behaviour Consultant and Clinical Supervisor.


General Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, supportive, and FUN environment for learning in the clients home and the community.
  • Case management and report writing.
  • Contribute to a strong team environment.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.
  • Some administration duties are required.

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • Use teaching methods to target specific program goals as directed by a Behavioural Consultant/Analyst and implementing teaching programs and other interventions as outlined on the student's behavioural plan of intervention.
  • Collect data, monitoring, recording, and reviewing client progress with consultant and other team members.
  • Develop, teach, and demonstrate the strategies of positive behaviour support.
  • Write accurate session notes and maintaining files.
  • Support various clients with skills related to selfadvocacy and selfregulation in a fun and meaningful way.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, two years postsecondary education in a related field preferred (psychology, education, social work, etc.)
  • Experience working with children with autism and experience/ability managing and responding to aggressive behaviour is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Available for work at least 20 hours/week, possibly weekends and evenings.
  • Valid BC driver's license.
  • Criminal record check required.
  • Reliable vehicle.
