    Job Description:

    The Advisor, RES is responsible for providing service-oriented advising, instructions, and guidance to prospective and current students, internal staff, or external parties in registrarial matters related to the incumbent's specialized field. This role involves staying up-to-date on College registrarial procedures, policies, legislative changes, educational trends, and practices in Canada and internationally to offer current and precise information and advice to students. The Advisor utilizes profound knowledge and broad understanding of other RES units to offer guidance to junior team members on system issues, guidelines, or unique circumstances that demand exceptional decision-making skills. Advisors may collaborate with Assistants or work within a matrix model where they lead specific functions, projects, or client groups. Responsibilities include coordinating and executing the core functions of the business unit, as well as developing, delivering, and maintaining the unit's processes, procedures, and policies. Furthermore, the Advisor works together with others to organize and implement RES changes, events, or projects.

    Qualifications Required:

    Education

    • Completion of a two-year diploma or an associate's degree in a related discipline.
    • Four (4) years of relevant experience in the field, providing consultative support and advice to post-secondary students, preferably in a Registrar's Office.
    • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
    • Advanced knowledge and experience with an integrated student record system (e.g. Banner).
    • Familiarity with post-secondary policies and procedures, programs, and registrarial processes.
    • Understanding of the BC post-secondary system.

    • Facilitates communication and teamwork, fostering understanding of individual, team, and organizational objectives.
    • Ensures all interactions are respectful, service-oriented, and collegial.
    • Supports the RES team in change management processes by enhancing change activities in collaboration with the change team.
    • Interprets and applies College, government, and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines effectively.
    • Exercises judgment, diplomacy, tact, and discretion.
    • Maintains confidentiality of records and information.
    • Proficient in standard computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
    • Achieves a keyboarding speed of 40 wpm.
