Position Summary:


  • The Facilities Technician
  • Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of Technicians in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and ondemand services for assigned facilities. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Technician
  • Team Leader is also responsible to perform general maintenance duties in support of the Facilities team.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Utilize thirdparty software for all maintenance requests, respond to requests, update software and record when work is complete and record time taken to perform tasks
  • Perform physical tasks such as: electrical and lighting installations, small drywall repairs, lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs, setting up for events
  • Order supplies and materials as required and work within budget restrictions and requirements
  • Engage outside contractors to complete work in buildings upon receiving proper budget authorization. Oversee the work of outside contractors and inspect completed work prior to approving payment
  • Operate, maintain and make minor repairs to equipment and machinery. Make recommendations related to the purchase of new equipment
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act; use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by law to handle, store, use, dispose and transport any equipment, substance, tools, material, etc.
  • Organizing and updating drawings/manuals and other documentation as required

Skills:


  • Ability to perform manual labour, involving lifting (approximately 50 pounds), bending, pushing and reaching above the shoulders, perform minor repairs to machinery and equipment
  • Familiar with the operation of shop machinery, equipment, power tools and hand tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problemsolving and organizational skills

Education and Experience:


  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma required
  • Minimum five years' experience in a facilities/maintenance environment
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team considered an asset
  • Possess a valid Class "G" Driver's License, with clean driving abstract
  • Requires a clear Criminal Background and Vulnerable Sector checks
  • Overtime/oncall and weekend support will be required
