Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Reporting and Planning, or designate, be responsible for providing support for financial matters to all departments in the City.

Responsibilities:

Assisting in the preparation, analysis, review and execution of the operating and capital budgets, including budget entry and calculating/validating projected actuals
Assisting departments with the Purchasing/Accounts Payable function including assigning accounting to invoices, receiving invoices for payment, and preparing purchase requisitions
Ensuring financial integrity of GL including analyzing data, researching/analyzing/tracking GL Accounts, and monitoring operating accounts
Performing various aspects of inventory control including putaway's, issues, and inventory counts
Administering Storm Sewer permits and Roadway Restoration deposits
Assisting with yearend audit processes and special projects
Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust

Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge normally associated with completion of a three (3) year Business Administration or Accounting diploma from a recognized college, along with three (3) years of relevant experience with budgeting and financial analysis (preferably in municipal accounting environment)
Superior analytical, investigative, research skills and problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication/ presentation skills
Good organizational skills along with the demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and ability to work under pressure to meet competing deadlines
