Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Reporting and Planning, or designate, be responsible for providing support for financial matters to all departments in the City.


Responsibilities:


  • Assisting in the preparation, analysis, review and execution of the operating and capital budgets, including budget entry and calculating/validating projected actuals
  • Assisting departments with the Purchasing/Accounts Payable function including assigning accounting to invoices, receiving invoices for payment, and preparing purchase requisitions
  • Ensuring financial integrity of GL including analyzing data, researching/analyzing/tracking GL Accounts, and monitoring operating accounts
  • Performing various aspects of inventory control including putaway's, issues, and inventory counts
  • Administering Storm Sewer permits and Roadway Restoration deposits
  • Assisting with yearend audit processes and special projects
  • Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust

Requirements:


  • Demonstrated knowledge normally associated with completion of a three (3) year Business Administration or Accounting diploma from a recognized college, along with three (3) years of relevant experience with budgeting and financial analysis (preferably in municipal accounting environment)
  • Superior analytical, investigative, research skills and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/ presentation skills
  • Good organizational skills along with the demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and ability to work under pressure to meet competing deadlines
