    Purpose of the job :-Promote the safe and efficient operation of Metrolinx Rail Services (GO Transit, UP Express).

    Key responsibilities

    1. Ensures that all transportation and Customer Service activities are performed safely, promptly while providing a courteous service to clients in accordance with corporate policies, practices, government regulations, Canadian Rail Operating Rules and special instructions.

    2. Coordinates, directs and supervises train operators through the application of a high level of technical and managerial skills related to Customer service delivery and the safe operation of trains and the provision of a quality service in accordance with the advertised train schedules.

    3. Coordinate delivery/facilitate all new Canadian Rail Operating Rules (C.R.O.R.) training classes. Coordinate oversee/facilitate triennial C.R.O.R. recertification classes.

    4. Stay current with changes – C.R.O.R., policies/procedures, to ensure the training class provides optimum training. Make recommendations/implementation on required changes.

    5. Provide input in the development of a Safety Management System dealing with the regulatory regime.

    Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

    Education

    • High School or equivalent
    • Post Secondary education an asset

    Relevant experience required

    5-10 years

    Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role

    • Strong working knowledge of railroad operating rules and regulations
    • Prior Rules instruction experience
    • Management/supervisory experience an asset
    • Experience and strong facilitation skills

    Locomotive Engineer qualification considered an asset
