The position solves problems within framework of technical knowledge and established guidelines. Work is performed under supervision and reviewed upon completion. Tasks of lower complexity may be performed independently. Nonstandard techniques or recommendations for action on complex problems are referred to supervisor.

The Application Analyst understands customer requirements with direction and executes assignments to meet specifications. The Application Analyst recognizes own contribution to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

An Application Analyst will enhance/maintain business relationships with customers, typically by:

  • Develop systems design, direct systems implementation, and develop methods and procedures.
  • Analyze requirements, design, code, test and implement programs from specifications.
  • Assist in or provide monitoring, improve existing systems, and develop new systems.
  • Estimate programming costs and delivery costs.
  • Ability to be oncall and work after hours, as required.
  • Deliver successful incidents, enhancements, and projects by target date, according to scope and requirements and date set by client
  • Align prioritization of issues with customers' priorities
  • Create, development and execute unit, system and functional tests as required
  • Ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities and meet deadlines as required
  • Create and maintain documentation for all projects, processes, products, solutions, incidents, and enhancements utilizing team established templates, processes, and procedures
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to all ISM Canada customers
  • Demonstrate 100% commitment to communicate professionally in any medium
  • Provide timely completion and resolution of problems
  • Invest in personal development, Ability to research, analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to learn new techniques, technologies, methodologies, products and systems quickly
  • Educate and train clients and/or ISM employees on systems, services and products
  • Demonstrate sound work habits to maintain an image of competence and professionalism
  • Assign work to junior staff and coordinate efforts and provide technical guidance to others
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Provide 7x24 oncall/standby support on a rotating basis

Qualifications:


  • University Degree, or diploma from a twoyear program in Computer Science/Data processing, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training, plus 57 years knowledge of systems concepts.
  • Good knowledge of computer fundamentals including computer environments and operating systems; compile and execution functions; data structures, formats, and storage media; and program languages.
  • Good knowledge of structured analysis, design and programming techniques and demonstrated ability to follow structured design and analyst disciplines.
  • Good organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to set and achieve more than one concurrent objective reliably.
  • Good analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability and initiative to learn and use new techniques, products, and systems.
  • Ability to work productively and demonstrate leadership in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills including a mature and professional attitude demonstrated to clients and employees.
  • Skills and abilities acceptable to the client.

Key Skills & Abilities:


  • Very good organizational and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to set and achieve more than one concurrent objective reliably
  • ITIL (would be considered an asset)
  • Demonstrated capacity for increasing responsibility and accountability
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a rapidpaced environment
  • Experience with the following is preferred:
  • Mainframe
  • Natural/Adabas
  • TSO, CICS, JCL
  • Supporting Business Software Applications
  • Experience with Visual Studio considered an asset
