Background & Purpose of the Job


The Human Resources team within Unilever delivers a wide range of programs and priorities designed to enable strong business performance.

As the People Experience Lead in our Simcoe facility, you will interact with employees and managers to address business challenges and priorities in a flexible, nimble way.

You will be the key HR contact and the face of Human Resources for all factory employees and will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations in all aspects of the business while continuing to foster a collaborative Union relationship and promote a positive employee relations atmosphere.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Manage the new hire onboarding process to include safety, quality, WCM and operation teams.
  • Lead and provide direction to managers regarding Performance Management Process (PMP)
  • Manage the medical accommodation process to be aligned with federal and provincial laws
  • Direct and manage end to end ownership of HR solutions/rollouts for the site.
  • Manage and direct project teams from inception to completion, hitting deadlines and documenting progress.
  • Must be able to effectively manage conflict while creating an inclusive work environment.
  • Manage escalation of HR support issues through to resolution while maintaining effective communication with all affected stakeholders
  • Conduct investigations including writeups, legal conversations, and counseling
  • Foster a collaborative Union/Management relationship and administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Promote a positive employee relations atmosphere and that helps close grievances.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • Must have solid experience in HR operations with a minimum of 35 years, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Ability to think outside of the box and be confident to bring new ideas to table.
  • Ability to analyze data to make key decisions to drive performance
  • Experience navigating and using an HRIS system, such as Workday or similar
