What We Seek**:


  • OCH is seeking a dedicated
    Internal Communications Specialist**, responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a broad range of internal communications initiatives and campaigns to help foster and inspire an engaged workforce. Under the guidance of the Manager of Corporate Communications, the Internal Communications Specialist implements internal communication plans and a yearly strategy that increase the visibility of OCH and its departments to employees and help position OCH positively to its employees and management team, leveraging the intranet as the main communications platform.

Internal Communications Specialist with

  • The Specialist will increase adoption and awareness of projects, programs and events. They will develop and implement initiatives to promote employee engagement. They will support and advise on current and emerging internal and external issues and crisis management that may impact employee engagement, retention, health and safety, and labour relations matters. As the Internal Communications Specialist,
    you will be a major player in shaping the communities we serve by helping us to connect more with our communities and each other.
    You will be the key that enables our employees to serve our communities and bring change into the lives of our tenants.

As an
Internal Communications Specialist, some of the things you will do include:

Internal Communications

  • Develops, implements, and monitors meaningful and impactful internal communications initiatives to engage employees across Ottawa Community Housing, across print and digital channels.
  • Identifies and manages effective internal communications tools and channels (such as the SharePoint Platform (Intranet) to promote OCH initiatives, teams, events, and news to all employees.
  • Develop and implement managerspecific internal communications using the appropriate channels, such as the manager's corner.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative business relationships with internal leadership, stakeholders and clients across OCH to produce all internal communications.
  • Manages the employee newsletter, and manager's corner and contributes to external publications.
  • Advise the People, Communications and Strategy division on best internal communications practices to foster an inclusive and engaged work culture.
  • Effectively tracks and monitors all internal communication initiatives to ensure longterm, meaningful impact.
  • Creates communications consistent with the organization's values, brand, and internal culture.
  • Supports internal and external events as needed.

Employee Relations**- Supports the content development for internal employee communications, providing engaging features that improve employee engagement.

  • Supports and advises on current and emerging internal and external issues and/or crisis management that may impact employee engagement, retention, health and safety, and labour relations matters.
  • Actively participates in management group meetings to obtain information to develop effective internal communication and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Supports the People, Communications and Strategy division with communication plans involving significant organizational changes.

Digital Platforms (Intranet)

  • Leads webbased projects for the corporate intranet (SharePoint platform) from endtoend, including usability, information architecture, site design, content, maintenance, marketing, usage monitoring and efficacy measurement.
  • Develops and upholds an editorial calendar to ensure continuous maintenance and current content deliver
