    We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team at FortNine. As the Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

    Please note that this is a Hybrid position that is offered to residents of Montreal, QC and surrounding area Fully remote or out-of-province applicants will not be currently considered

    Responsibilities:
    • Assist in reviewing and managing the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable and receivable processes.
    • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
    • Execute the month-end closing process, including accruals, amortization, and maintenance of schedules.
    • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Coordinate with external auditors during annual financial audits or government audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
    • Assist in the consolidation and reporting of all entities, maintaining the intercompany loan and transaction structure.
    • Collaborate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar capacity.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Primarily QuickBooks) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with SQL a strong asset.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in both English and French. Bilingualism a must.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
    • Local to Montreal, QC or surrounding Area. This is a Hybrid role that will require some office presence.

    Responsabilités:
    • Participer à l'examen et à la gestion des opérations quotidiennes du service comptable, y compris les procédures relatives aux comptes créditeurs et débiteurs.
    • Effectuer des rapprochements mensuels des comptes du bilan et résoudre rapidement tout écart.
    • Exécuter le processus de clôture du mois, y compris les régularisations, l'amortissement et la mise à jour des calendriers.
    • Préparer des états financiers mensuels, trimestriels et annuels précis et en temps voulu.
    • Assurer la coordination avec les auditeurs externes lors des audits financiers annuels ou des audits gouvernementaux, en fournissant la documentation et le soutien nécessaires.
    • Aider à la consolidation et à l'établissement des rapports de toutes les entités, en maintenant la structure des prêts et des transactions intersociétés.
    • Collaborer à l'élaboration et à la mise en œuvre de politiques et de procédures visant à améliorer l'efficience et l'efficacité du service comptable.
    Exigences:
    • Baccalauréat en comptabilité, en finance ou dans un domaine similaire.
    • Expérience prouvée dans des fonctions comptables ou financières, avec au moins 5 ans d'expérience dans une fonction similaire.
    • Compréhension approfondie des principes comptables et des normes d'information financière (GAAP).
    • Maîtrise des logiciels de comptabilité (principalement QuickBooks) et maîtrise avancée de Microsoft Excel. Une bonne connaissance du langage SQL est un atout majeur.
    • Excellentes compétences analytiques avec la capacité d'identifier et de résoudre des problèmes comptables complexes.
    • Compétences efficaces en matière de communication et de relations interpersonnelles en anglais et en français. Le bilinguisme est indispensable.
    • Souci du détail et engagement en faveur de l'exactitude et de l'intégrité des rapports financiers.
    • Local à Montréal, QC ou dans la région environnante. Il s'agit d'un poste hybride qui nécessitera une certaine présence au bureau.
