Position Summary


The Accounting Specialist is responsible for handling CAA Niagara's overall daily accounting tasks of multiple lines of business and CAA Niagara-owned businesses.

The Accounting Specialist will analyze financial information, maintain complete records while adhering to the strict standards of the organization.


An Accounting Specialist's responsibilities include keeping accurate records of all transactions, handling certain reporting tasks and account reconciliations as needed.

Primary


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles accounts to the general ledger.
  • Prepare a multitude of reports for financial, tax, and regulatory purposes.
  • Perform financial analysis of key operating costs, seeking opportunity of savings.
  • Aid in monthend processing and reporting of financial results
  • Assist in Monthly budgeting reports
  • Assist in Year-End Audit
  • Collaborate with Associate Director to provide necessary financial reports to business units.
  • Support with creation of training documents and training of Accounting Clerks.


This is not an exhaustive list and other duties may be assigned as permanent or temporary, where needs are required.


Qualifications:


  • Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs
  • Must be able to learn different systems and accounting software systems
  • Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information; uses diplomacy and tact in all interactions.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
Education & Experience

  • 36 years recent related experience in full cycle of accounting.
  • Strong knowledge and direct use of Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent interruptions with requirement to focus
  • Ability to sit/stand when required
