At Northland, we're enablers of change, united by our journey to transform the energy sector into the foundation for a sustainable future.

Since our inception, we've been early movers in the energy industry, adopting new initiatives that pave the way for communities across the globe and helping forge their path towards a carbon-neutral landscape.

We're a different kind of independent power producer.

As developers, owners and operators who are at the forefront of the energy transition, we're uniquely positioned to leave a lasting impact in the regions where we operate.

We've expanded our business across Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia to become a global leader, all by bringing together industry experts to find solutions with an entrepreneurial mindset.

While our work powers communities across the globe, Northland is powered by our people.

What You'll Do:

As a Wind & Siting Manager, you will play a key role by supporting the origination of new wind project development opportunities.

Reporting to the Head of Canada and US Development, your responsibilities will span from assisting with project due diligence to supporting regional development and project teams with various activities throughout the project lifecycle.

This position requires some local and international business travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Due Diligence: Supporting the acquisition of projects through site screening and analysis, whether through inhouse assessment or managing external consultants.
  • Development Project Support: Working from first principles as lead and/or project managing internal or external specialists across these core scope areas, including but not limited to:
  • site screening and selection
- measurement campaign design
- wind resource, energy yield, and site conditions assessments (shear, turbulence, extreme winds, in-flow angle, etc.)
- wake modelling and blockage effects
- noise assessment
- curtailment analysis
- supporting wind turbine selection
- layout design, technical input to commercial agreements (e.g. TSA, O&M, etc.), and interfacing with loads engineers and other project engineers

  • Knowledge Management: Ensuring continued consistency across the business in the assessment of wind resources and yield, in line with uptodate industry best practices and incorporating lessons learned from our development and operational projects.
  • Follow and report on new standards, methodologies, service providers, and best practices in measurement, analysis, validation, and asset performance. Integration of these with the tools, templates, and procedures used inhouse.

Who You Are:

  • Methodical and organized: You can effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadlinedriven environment and are known to create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Strong communicator: Your spoken and written communication is excellent, and you can influence your internal and external stakeholders coming from varied cultural backgrounds.
  • Collaborative: You build relationships easily and enjoy working as a team to get things done.
  • Proactive problem solver: You have the ability to anticipate and prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur while effectively working with team members and management to resolve complex problems.
  • Flexible: You are agile in your approach and thrive in a dynamic and fastpaced environment. You recognize the simultaneous need for rigorous adherence to processes and the flexibility to adapt to inevitable changes along the way.
Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience with wind analysis/performance analysis, including working with linear and CFD wind flow modelling, data from remote sensing devices (i.e., lidar and sodar), and complex sites (topography, orography, temperature extremes, etc.)
  • Experience conducting due diligence of deliverables from third parties (consultancies, developers, OEMs) and associated risk mitigation.
  • Experience working across the project lifecycle of onshore and offshore wind projects from site selection to financial closethrough to operations.
  • Thorough understanding of uncertainty in resource and yield assessments (pre and postconstruction) and associated risk for project finance/valuation.
  • Experience with noise and curtailment analyses is an asset.
