CONSTRUCTION LABOURER (SEASONAL)
The start date of this position is early April 2023. Interviews will start in late February 2023.

Hollyhock has been working as General Contractor and Subcontractor since 2013, providing clients with quality services and satisfactory results while combining our knowledge with energy efficiency implementations.

Our services include pre-construction, execution and project closure and handover of new homes, renovations and various commercial projects.

POSITION TYPE:

Fulltime fixed term, April to October months)
Up to 8 hours per day and up to 40 hours per week
Monday to Friday
Weekends may be offered
Overtime hours may be offered
Site work at multiple locations

DUTIES:

Assist in the renovation, construction, and repair of structures made of wood, steel, concrete or other materials
Load and unload construction materials and move materials to work areas
Assist tradespersons in construction tasks
Removal of construction debris at the construction site as directed
Clean and pile salvaged construction materials as indicated
Operate tools under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson or after having received adequate orientation under the Occupational Health and Safety Plan
Supply and mobilize materials at construction sites as directed
Participate in orientation, training and selfimprovement learning initiatives in the construction field
Continuous change of tasks in the construction site
Use of shift time tracking software
Use of safety software for Health and Safety program compliance
Comply with and support the Occupational Health and Safety Program
Load and unload construction materials and move materials to work areas
Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Team player.
Eager to learn.
Proactive.
Attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Must be physically able to perform all required tasks that involve continuous walking, sitting, standing, climbing, lifting, balancing and handling of tools and materials.
Must be able to work outdoors during adverse seasonal weather conditions, and uneven terrains and always follow PPE requirements
Have steeltoed safety boots and a hard hat

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Basic safety training is an asset (additional and continuous safety training will be provided)
Certifications in construction are considered an asset.
1 or 2 years year of experience in the construction industry as a Construction Laborer is preferred.
Previous experience with ICF concrete work
Excellent communication skills as the position involve mostly teamwork tasks and following instructions

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Be a Manitoba resident, living in the city of Winnipeg or within a reasonable commuting distance of our office located in Headingley, MB
Be able to provide at least 2 professional references. The references can be from past employers, trainers, teachers or instructors that can provide information on your skills and experience

COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage range: $18.00 to $20.00
Overtime pay (overtime work when authorized)
Weekends may be offered
