KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Performing routine, independent, vehicle despatching at a bus garage involving the assignment of buses to scheduled routes, special runs and accessible routes
  • Compiling or completing vehicle despatch lists or entering information into a computer despatch system
  • Driving vehicles to arrange them in order of starting times and special route requirements
  • Ensuring the vehicles are prepared for quick and easy departure from the garage and checking lights, starting engines and reporting late drivers
  • Providing information to the Traffic Office regarding late departures and disposition of vehicles and locating and reporting on the status of vehicles and designating vehicles for change offs, special or accessible service
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Training normally obtained through completion of a Grade 12, or have the recognized equivalent, as defined by the Operations Training Centre Department
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, write legibly and maintain attention to detail
  • Requires a valid class "G" Province of Ontario driver's licence or better
  • Must be able to upgrade to a class "CZ" driver's licence and successfully complete the Operations Training Centre Department's bus operator program for maintenance employees
  • Must be familiar with the preparation of fleet vehicles for service. This would normally be acquired through experience in an environment where fleet vehicles are cleaned, prepared and aligned for service.
  • Must pass the Department's skills test
This position is designated as Safety-Sensitive under the TTC's Fitness for Duty Policy.

If you do not currently hold a designated position, you will be required to pass a drug test as part of the certification process.
